Description

What it is

A 150# class investment cast 304 stainless 90° elbow with female NPT threads on both ends. Standard pattern. Used to turn a threaded stainless line 90 degrees where the run cannot be welded or needs to come apart later.

304 handles most water and general plant service. If the line carries chlorides or brine, go to 316 — the same fitting in CF8M is on the catalog page. If it is a plain water or air line and stainless is not on the spec, black or galvanized malleable will do the same job for a fraction of the money.

Threads conform to ASME B1.20.1. Fitting dimensions follow MSS SP‑114. Pair with stainless nipples and unions from the same line so the thread tolerances match.

Often goes with

  • 1" 304 stainless close nipple
  • 1" 304 stainless union, 150#
  • 1" 304 stainless tee, 150#
  • PTFE thread tape, heavy density
  • Anti‑seize for stainless threads

Galling is the usual failure on stainless threads. Use anti‑seize, not just tape.
